The Specialized Companies Division is headed by Mr.Salman A.Shaikh , Commissioner. It regulates and monitors insurance companies, non-banking finance companies, Modarabas and private pensions. The Specialized Companies Division seeks to provide a conducive regulatory environment to foster growth in the non-banking financial sector, safeguard the financial system and protect the interests of shareholders, depositors and policyholders under the relevant laws. It has been divided into the following Departments and Wing:

Non-Banking Finance Companies Department
The Non-Banking Finance Companies Department (NBFCD) is responsible for licensing and regulation of entities under its purview and their enforcement and compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. These include non-banking finance companies engaged in leasing, investment finance services, discounting services, housing finance services, venture capital investment, asset management services and investment advisory as well as modarabas, modaraba management companies, venture capital funds and mutual funds.
Pensions Wing
The Pensions Wing is responsible for developing and regulating the activities of private pensions in Pakistan.The SECP has been recently entrusted with the regulation of private pensions and the Pensions Wing has become responsible for registration, regulatory compliance and enforcement of all applicable laws on private pension systems in Pakistan. Presently, the Wing is implementing Voluntary Pension System under the Voluntary Pension System Rules, 2005.
REIT and New Initiative Wing (RNI)
  REITS and New Initiatives Wing (RNI) was established in year 2006 as part of Specialized Companies Division. The Commission has always strived to offer well regulated and market oriented financial products for the investors. The most recent development in this regard is the introduction of Real Estate Investment Trusts “REITs” and Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds “PE&VCF” in Pakistan. The RNI wing is working on the legal and operational frame work for REITs and PE&VCF and soon the same will be finalized and offered to public as an investment opportunity.
